Are you ready to collect and find bugs with me? Please let me know which days and times you could join me out there in the field. I could also really use some help finding more like-minded volunteers. Are you willing to share this message with friends, family, colleagues, members of your service clubs and place of business or worship? It is going to be great fun!
Thanks so much for your time and support. We couldn't do this without you! I look forward to your reply and to seeing you soon.
HELP WANTED: Calling all Citizen Scientists and Nature Nerds
No prior experience is necessary. Join the Friends at one of our Shiawassee River Watershed Stream Team monitoring sites for the biannual river critter (macroinvertebrate) collection.
You heard it right...No prior experience necessary! YOU can join the Friends at one of our Shiawassee River Watershed Stream Team monitoring sites for the biannual river critter collection as a citizen scientist. The Friends will provide you with training and all the equipment we need to get the job done. You may bring your own waders and please come dressed in clothing that you don't mind getting wet and dirty.
If you like to have fun and want to experience a day in the life of a scientist or are just curious about the health of our river, check your calendar, RSVP on our website, and join us out on our river. This activity is intended for adults and middle school age student or older.
SPRING STREAM TEAM SAMPLING DATES:
We can learn a lot about water quality by the types and quantities of the bugs that we find...or don't find. The information we collect from Owosso, Corunna, Byron, St. Charles, Chesaning, and Holly will give our communities an appraisal of our watershed’s health.
To learn more about Stream Teams, check out our webpage http://www.shiawasseeriver.org/river_critter_sampling
I hope to see you on the river soon!
